Modi Modern Indigenous is a lifestyle line that successfully fuses
traditional crafts with contemporary design and function. It is
a synergy of Philippine tribal artisans and city-bred designers
aiming to make culture-bound crafts up to date.
Brief History of Modi
Launched in Manila in October 2004, Modi’s main objective
is to increase the perceived value of crafts made by Philippine
indigenous communities. Modi also hopes to create a regular demand
for the crafts by continuously coming up with new concepts on
how to present them in a fresh way and meet the requirements of
the market without compromising the integrity of the artisans.
Modi is also growing to be a platform for Philippine designers
to create a look uniquely Filipino.
Modi supports and strengthens the livelihood of hundreds of indigenous
